It’s a Dog’s Life Journal
Hey, everyone! Lesly Williams of Crescent Moon Journals, one of our amazing new Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous It’s a Dog’s Lifernal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Lesly tell you all about her incredible project…
Hello everyone! I’m happy to be back with another Graphics Fairy design team journal. My granddaughter suggested some time ago that I make a dog journal. Since I’ve collected a lot of
antique dog ephemera and photographs, I decided that’s what this next Graphics Fairy Design team journal should be.
I’ve photographed the journal with two antique dog collars and an antique dog show ribbon to add some interest.
This is a tri-fold journal, using all Graphics Fairy premium site digitals. I was fortunate that they came out with another doggy bundle as I was in the process of creating this journal. The outside
covers have a Graphics Fairy background to which I have placed copies from my collection of people and their dogs or just a dog. These were all taken professionally which tells you how the
owners regarded their beloved pups. The back cover (or you could make it the front if you prefer) has a little antique button with a dog head and four marcasites beneath it. I’ve had this
button for years but decided to add to this journal. There are two little doggy charms tied on to the thread of the center signatures. There will be a list of the Graphics Fairy bundles I used at
the end as well as a link to the video of the full flip through.
Opening the journal you can see the inside of the cover with more photos. I’ve put a mica tuck spot so when you remove the larger photo you can still see all the other photos. The next page
has a simple lace pocket with an antique scrapbook card.
Next is a page from an old dog book and a fold up pocket with lace and a cut out from an antique scrapbook.
In this spread are wonderful Graphics Fairy printables to which I have added a copy of an antique postcard. I had to put him in…isn’t he great?
Going on I’ve made a wrap around pocket and above is an old, crocheted piece and a button. On the next page you can see how the pocket wraps around. There you have a photo of King
Edward VII and his dog Ceaser with another crocheted piece with a wax seal with a “W” for the House of Windsor.
Here I’ve made a pocket from an old document and added a ruffle also from a document. The tab is from the Graphics Fairy premium site as are all the tabs that I’ve used.
This is the start of the next signature or section. The inside cover is done the same way with a mica tuck spot. The book cover on the following page is a scan of an old book in my collection.
On this page I’ve made a pocket using two kinds of ribbon, so it looks like a fence with shrubbery growing behind it. Above is an old document fragment and a Victorian scrap. The
following page is a scan from a Victorian scrapbook.
I’ve folded up an old document to make a pocket and added a lovely, embroidered piece. Next is another wrap around pocket or tuck on a page made from old wallpaper.
On this page is a side tuck made of vellum with a cabinet card of a lady and her collie.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my journal and a big thank you to The Graphics Fairy for this opportunity to be on the design team.
