Hello everyone! It is that time of the year in France where the weather gets warmer and people spend their weekends strolling along flea markets in small villages. It is a great place to treasure hunt and get inspired!
This masculine themed journal “kit” was inspired by a box filled with old papers I found during one of my flea market trips. Initially the box housed various sorts of French ephemera and a notebook which belonged to a French man during the 50’s. I noticed the way he kept his important and personal papers was very messy! Random receipts and magazine clippings were tucked in between pages of his small notebook, nothing was sorted and the box burst out of old papers that got torn and shredded with time. Somehow it made the digging and discoveries even more fun! I decided to create my version of a man’s notebooks with that grungy and messy look to it. I created two notebooks using some of the masculine bundles and designs from the Graphic’s Fairy premium membership site. I decided to keep the original box to house them.
The first notebook has a leather cover and some French vintage authentic reward medals that I also found in a flea market.
The second notebook was made out of a recycled book cover that I first collaged with some vintage brown tissue pattern paper and then added a beautiful Graphic’s Fairy cover design on top.
To recreate the messy and somewhat grungy look of the initial book and to honour the various papers stored in the box; I collaged some of the pages together with pieces of these documents and tucked some others in between the pages.
On top of that, I added and collaged the Graphic’s Fairy Masculine elements and ephemera to add more personality to the first notebook.
In the second notebook, I mainly used the whole documents along with some architectural drawings from the Graphic’s Fairy to create pages.
Then, I added some journaling cards and ephemera throughout both from the “Steampunk Apothecary Shoppe” and “Ephemera collection” bundles to create some additional writing spots.
I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I enjoyed making it 🙂
