Pearle Vision
Have you had your vision checked lately? I had a chance to check out the Pearle Vision Eye Care Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and I’m going to walk you guys through the whole fascinating process. My good friend Lisa was kind of enough to go with me {and drive too} to help me pick out some cute new eyeglasses! We hopped in her minivan and headed over to Pearle Vision! Here I am checking in with Jenny. Jenny also works in the frames department and was a huge help with selecting frames – more on that later.
History of Pearle Vision
I learned a bit of History about Pearle Vision while I was there. Did you know that the founder of Pearle Vision was Dr. Stanley Pearle? He founded the company in 1961, with the concept of a one-stop place for total eye care, so that you could get your eye exam and your glasses all in one place! Today there are nearly 600 Pearle Vision Eye Care Centers located all over the U.S. They focus on hiring experienced top quality doctors in order to deliver genuine eye care to their patients. The doctor who examined me was very knowledgeable and patient with me. She listened to my needs {that’s hugely important to me!} and answered all of my questions.
Eye Exam
The exam went smoothly and was painless!
Pearle Vision Frames
Next we headed out to the retail area to pick out some Pearle Vision frames! I tried on lots of glasses! {These are not the ones that I got, you’ll have to wait until later to see that!} Lisa tried on some glasses too! It was interesting to see how what worked for one of us, did not work for the other. Jenny had loads of tips for picking out the right color and shape of frame, depending on your face shape, coloring, etc. She really knew her stuff! It was great to have Lisa there too to weigh in with her opinion, and it made the day even more fun!
On Site Lab
Now, this was a huge surprise to me! Did you know that they have the lab right there on site?!! Here’s Jenny, back in the lab, checking to see if they had my prescription in stock, which they did. So Lisa and I went to lunch and when we came back, my glasses were ready for me to take home! Apparently, in most cases they can do that for you. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was!! Here we are back at my house. We filmed a video of our trip to Pearle Vision, and in this shot we are wrapping up what happened during the day. You’ll be able to see the video at the bottom of this post and then you’ll know why my eyes are popping! It may or may not have to do with a big sale that they had going on, that caused me to get 2 pairs of glasses instead of 1! I’ll reveal both the pairs of glasses that I got in the follow-up post! To wrap up for now though, here’s what I loved about my trip to Pearle Vision in a nutshell. I found it to be amazingly convenient, for these reasons:
- I was able to get an appointment right away
- They emailed me the paperwork in advance, so I could fill it out before I got there
- There was no wait when I got there; my exam started as soon as I entered the center
- The Doctor, and all of the staff, were experienced, knowledgeable and well trained
- I got expert advice on picking out frames
- They made my eyeglasses right there, in about an hour!
All and all it was a great experience. I love my new glasses, and we’ll be using Pearle Vision for all of our family’s eye care needs from now on. Also, Lisa was impressed and will be making an appointment too!
New Glasses Reveal
Back at my house Lisa and I filmed a video discussing the Pearle experience.
I received an eye exam from a top notch doctor, using all the latest equipment. My doctor had quite a few years of experience, she was very patient and explained everything that she was doing as we progressed through the exam. She was also a great listener and answered all my questions! I felt like I was in really good hands! I got to choose from a large selection of frames in the retail section of the EyeCare Center. They had so many pretty frames to choose from! For those of you that are into top designer brands, you will love all the great names like, Tiffany & Co, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Coach, etc. I was shocked {and thrilled!} to find out that they had a lab right there and could make my glasses on the spot, while Lisa and I were at lunch! Here I am wearing them already during the check-out process. Such a huge time saver!
Pearle Vision Glasses
Here I am back at home with my new eyeglasses! I can finally see to read again, and to look at my computer. They are very comfortable too. You may remember that I told you, that I would explain in a future post, why my eyes were popping in this photo! Did you guess from the photo above?! It’s because they were running a buy one get one free special! Woohoo!! I was able to get a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. Now I can read on the beach, at the pool, on my patio or wherever! Yay! Lisa and I also made a video about our day, so that you can get the inside scoop on the Pearl Vision experience! You can watch it below… and then afterwards you can call your local Pearle Vision and schedule an appointment!
What is Pearle Vision Glasses Return Policy
They have a no-questions asked return policy on eyewear purchased at their stores for 30 days from purchase date. If you’re not satisfied with your glasses/eyeglasses, just bring them back in their original condition and they’ll make things right. When did you last get your eyes checked? Have you visited Pearle Vision?

Hi Karen, thanks for the insight (pun intended) on Pearle Vision. Geez, my email address would make you think I go there but I’ve not tried them. I see my regular optometrist every year. I wear contact lenses for distance and over the counter readers for computer work and reading. I tried bifocals a long time ago and hated them. Tried the multifocal contacts and didn’t care for them either. So, for now, my “system” seems to work well. I do think I’d be wise to get a pair of prescription bifocals just in case. 🙂 Thanks for all the info!

I get my eye’s checked every 6 months because I am a diabetic. I wear contacts occasionally but I mostly wear glasses. I found a pair of glasses make in the UK and fell in love with them. They are my favorite color, lime green and are very unique. I get complimented and asked where I got them all the time!

Hi! I’m so glad to hear that went to Pearl Vision and are taking care of YOUR eyes!!! We won’t miss them until we start losing vision…horrible! YES, I wear glasses. Anyway, i take care of my eyes by doing these things: wear my Rx sunglasses whenever possible to protect my eyes from UV rays. I ALWAYS close my eyes when I’m dealing with hay and pulling it out of the bale for our horses, since I’ve had one or two pieces get into my eyes in the past and IT HURTS!!! I wear my glasses CLEAN, since I feel it’s the best way for my vision. And, I make sure I get my eyes checked about 1x each year or two to see if their health is good, and if I need new glasses Rx. Have a groovy day!!

I wear my glasses primarily, but when on adventures I put in my contacts so I don’t have to worry about losing or damaging my frames. So far I’ve done quite well taking care of them, Iv’e had the same pair for 14 years. Obviously I have had the lenses replaced several times but needless to say I could really use that gift card to go towards a new pair!!
Thanks for posting the giveaway 🙂

wear reading glasses, hate them. Need to find some cute ones.

I wore glass from the 4th grade, then contact lenses from the age of 12. I’m now 66 years old, and had lens replacement surgery. I see great, both near and far. My eyes do get tired, however. I’m on the computer a lot, and read a lot.

I wear glasses sometimes to read when my eyes get really tired. Too much time on the computer! I think the t thing I do for my eyes I eat well and make sure I get enough vitamins. Make a world of difference.

i wear contacts during the day and glasses at night. I always make sure to clean my lenses, go for regular checkups and keep my blood pressure under control

Hey Karen – thanks for the post! I have been needing a new pair of glasses for about 6 months! I have tri-focals which are great because they help with distance, close up art work, and working on graphics on the computer. I see a lot of sales out there for glasses – but tri focals are a bit more expensive plus getting a pair of clip on sunglasses – so bring on the $100 VISA card, baby! I would LOVE to go to Pearl for a new pair of glasses!

I wear glasses! I clean them everyday with cleaner purchased from the vision store.
Donna says
I have worn glasses and contacts for thirty years! I have my eyes checked every two years. The worst thing for me about wearing glasses is when I take them off and can’t find them because I can’t see!!
Sage Arwen says
I am suppose to wear glasses but they have become so expensive I have not been able to purchase them.
I have worn contacts in the past but now I have progressed to bifocals so contacts are out of the question. I still get my eyes examined on a regular basis and I wear sunglasses when ever I go outdoors to guard against UV damage.

I wear readers for close-up reading and prescription ones for driving and watching t.v., etc. I have my vision checked once a year. Another thing that I do for my eyes is to wear the special tinted readers when using my computer. This helps to cut down on the glare and lessens eye strain. They came in a set of regular readers that I purchased from QVC.
