Ode to the Rose Junk Journal
Hey guys. Lynne Morgado of Mockingbird and Main, one of our delightful Junk Journal Design Team Members, is back with us again this week. Lynne created a beautiful romantic Junk Journal for the month of February. As you know by now, each week we are featuring a different Junk Journal created by some talented artisans. We hope you are being inspired by this series! I will allow Lynne to tell you all about her appealing book in her own words…
Ode to the Rose
Hello everyone. I am here to show you my February Design Team Junk Journal. This journal is a little different than my usual style and I think it is both my longing for Spring to arrive here in New England and my new found love for roses that has inspired it. Here is my “Ode to the Rose.”
This junk journal is a romantic feminine softcover with lovely shades of pink, red, and green throughout. There is a cluster of vintage and new buttons on the front cover and pockets created from assorted laces and trims where you can tuck away some of your ephemera. I lightly tea stained a rose pattern tablecloth that belonged to my grandmother and used that for the cover. I think she would be thrilled.
Ephemera I Used
In poking around on The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership Site, I found so many images that further inspired this feminine shabby chic journal. I was amazed by the floral images that are available. You can create a journal showcasing whatever flower may be your favorite….lilies, azaleas, cherry blossoms; just to name a few. My two favorite pages in this journal are the patchwork pages that I created to resemble quilts.
Images from the In The Garden Ephemera bundle and the Fairyland Landscapes bundle found their way into those pages.
I used many of the images from the Roses and Bees bundle. The assorted postcard sheets in that bundle are a favorite of mine.
I also plucked rose images from Romantic Roses and Black & White Cut Flowers bundles. I thought an image to color would be a fun addition to this journal.
Onto tea dyed paper I printed a few notes and poems from the Script Ephemera 2 bundle. I imagine that the girl who owned this journal would have read them over and over.
The grungy flowers & butterflies journaling cards in the Blissful Blossoms bundle are beautiful, and they are a larger size journaling card that I prefer. Again, with this journal I wanted to include a selection of extra treasures and ephemera that I hope will inspire you.
There are also bundles of assorted floral color combinations as well as seasonal floral bundles…the choices are endless. If you’re counting the days until Spring like me, check out the floral images and create something that reminds you Spring is right around the corner.
