Hello Everyone! Today I am sharing a Parisian Flower Market junk journal with you that I have created. The inspiration for this journal came from a little collection of black and white photographs of Victorian Flower Sellers I had been saving for some time. It was very common in Victorian times to see flower sellers on the streets of Paris and London. They peddled their beautiful blooms during the hustle and bustle of the street markets of that time.
I decided to use my little flower seller photos to create this junk journal. I started by printing them on tracing paper and then I went right to the Graphics Fairy Premium site to gather up many beautiful French script papers and floral images to pair with them. If you need any type of flower image… the Graphics Fairy Premium site has what you need! I chose many roses and florals in deep shades of red and dark pinks. I was feeling very inspired by the colors pink, magenta, gold, and olive green for this journal. I really tried to stay with my color palette.
I created this junk journal from an old book as my base. I reinforced the spine with some vintage linen on the inside. I then sewed in 3 signatures to the journal using some vintage pink thread my Mom gave me. I love the way the pink thread looks with the green book. I also added some charms to the signature strings to dangle out of the bottom of the journal. I love how that looks! It looks like someone had been saving these little charms safely in their journal for many years. I like to image that the girl that owned this journal used it to collect beautiful flowers, photographs, and landscapes that inspired her.
I printed some of the roses on vintage papers.. such as old sheet music and ledger paper. The results were stunning! Because The Graphics Fairy Premium site has transparent backgrounds on most of their floral images it makes printing this way very simple, even for someone without a lot of digital knowledge. I also printed on tea stained papers and used beet dyed papers as well in this journal. I think the soft pinks and aged papers go so nicely together.
The Parisian theme is always a fun theme to work with. There are many French themed images to choose from on the Premium site. I really love the selection of antique ephemera. I suggest printing a few of the pretty invoices of ledger papers and cutting them up into little pieces. Make a little pile of them and then you will have beautiful little scraps you can collage together to create something beautiful.
Here are some more photos of my journal. Be sure to scroll down to see the video tour!
