Pink Wedding Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Ingrid Carlsen of Karatootie, one of our amazing new Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Pink Wedding Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Ingrid introduce herself, and tell you all about her incredible project…
Hi lovelies! I’m Ingrid Carlsen, and I am here to share my second project for the Graphics Fairy Design Team. I ended up using 6 collections, but the superstars ended up being the Wedding Ephemera, and Parisian Pinks, which have the most beautiful colors and images.
In fact, this is actually my second take, I was originally making a journal with a more industrial grungy feel, when TGF released Parisian Pinks, an AMAZING collection of pink French papers…seriously go check them out right now! The line single handedly made me change my color palette to a sweet more romantic one, and I’m so glad I did!
For my second entry, I wanted to make a project, not just a journal. I went back to my roots of paper-crafting and created a “bag” and an “envelope” using manilla card stock and a manilla file folder. One of them houses the journal and the other an altered notebook. This project is part of a story about Tess and Parker, some French newlyweds.
If you’re anything like me, then you love sparkle! And when I think of weddings, I think of SPARKLE! I sprinkled some sparkle all throughout this project! First off, I added texture and bling by adding some iridescent sequins that look like they landed on the envelope from Tess’s wedding dress. I took some parchment paper and added dots in regular glitter as well as these fun glitter stars that sit right above a sweet pink bow. Speaking of the pink bow, did you spot the bulb pin with sequins and seed beads…isn’t it just precious?
The back of the envelope is decorated by layering papers, embossed parchment paper, a doily and a floral dictionary page. Topping it off like a tiny crown, is another bulb pin with tiny gold seed beads!
The envelope houses a sweet notebook that is ready to record all of your thoughts and dreams. Maybe fill it with quotes, lyrics, or bible verses! It is filled with yummy coffee dyed papers and has a couple of sweet embellishments attached with gold paperclips.
The “bag” was constructed from manilla card stock that is sewn shut at the bottom. The cover features distressed corrugated cardboard, and using layered fabrics, I mimicked Tess’s gown and added a vintage button with Parker and her initials. The sparkle continues here with the gold star glitter and white star glitter inside a precious dangle ornament.
I constructed the journal out of chipboard and painted and distressed some corrugated cardboard to add some interest and texture on the cover. I layered papers, a tag and some parchment paper under a beautiful vintage rose.
Other than sparkle, the thing you will see throughout this journal is layering. Layered fabrics, papers and textures. This spread is one of my favorites. It includes an altered tag on the left side that has a lot of layering. The page on the right has some green fabric that brings a cohesiveness to both pages.
I think that Tess loves all things pink, sweet and floral. The blush pink in these pages reflect that. The gold on both pages brings them together without having to completely match.
Tess saved a picture of her wedding and a piece of the fabric from Parker’s pocket square which is attached with a safety pin. The gatefold pocket on the right is adorned with modeling paste stenciled and distressed in a beautiful floral pattern. It is the perfect hiding space for some hidden journaling and a photo or two.
In this pocket, you will find the sweetest journaling notebook! It is teeny and adorable. The other item is a tag book that is bound by some silky fabric and finished off with a pearl bead on a bulb pin. The pocket itself is made up of coffee dyed paper, a doily, parchment paper and a little fabric and paper cluster topped off with some gold sparkle (of course).
Memories of sweet Tess are bound within these pages and ready for more to be added. Thank you for your time! I can’t wait to hear what you think of my project. And seriously run to check
