Karen! I Need your help! First I am new to GraphicsFairy, Love love love…been downloading and cant wait to try somethings out. And thanks for sharing these they are so greeeeeat!!!! But I have something I need your assistance with since you are the guru of vintage books. Here is what I have. I have a giant coloring book called “Kim’s Kate Greenaway Coloring Book” from what I can find on it, it appears to have been published by Red Farm Studio in 1956 ish. But I am not 100% sure. So here is what I am looking to do. I have had this book since I was a kid. The pages are HUGE maybe 11X 17, (could be larger I don’t have a ruler on hand) I would love to know A. Is this book old enough, (and the images) to be able to share, since technically Ms. Greenaway died in 1901 Not sure who “Kim” is and if she just is copying the Greenaway style in these books. Also I cant seem to find info on “Red Farm Studio” who published this. From what I can tell they may be out of business. End result is that I would like to not take the book apart (since it is in excellent condition, (box not so much) find the best way to get the images, share them with everyone on here, (there are 6) then sell the box/book. If you are able to help that would be grand because these images are fantastic. Thanks so much!

Not sure about any copyright issues, as that is not my area of expertise, but once you figure those out, copying the images without taking apart the book should be a cinch! Just get a handheld wand scanner and scan those babies! Easy peasy. I love mine! And if that won’t work, check with someplace like Staples and see if they can scan it without damaging the book. I’ve had great success with them in the past. Best of luck to you, and hope to see those pictures on Graphics Fairy in the near future!

I am a fine art mixed media artist who would love to learn how to do digital collage as well. Due to my disability, I am often not able to get to all my supplies on a daily basis, to do the work I love so much. Digital collage techniques would help me to have all the tools I need at my fingertips, saving me much physical pain on those hard days. I have a strong desire to create daily. This new skill, once learned, would help me to continue to be creative and productive. Nothing brings me so much joy as to create and share. Please let me know what options are available to learn digital collage layered works. I love your site and am a daily fan. Thank you for all your dedication and appreciation of beautiful works of timeless art.

Hi Rhue,
You can use a free online tool called Picmonkey for that (there’s a paid version too, but you can do many things with the free one!). Here’s a link to some techniques using Picmonkey https://thegraphicsfairy.com/alter-photos-using-picmonkey/ I hope that helps!
