Introducing Rita from The Coffee Shop Blog – our Newest Instructor!

Hey everyone! Today I want to introduce you to our newest instructor on our Premium Membership Site! This is Rita from The Coffee Shop Blog. She will be doing a monthly Photoshop Elements Tutorial on our Premium Site and we are so excited to have her on our team!

Here is a bit about Rita’s background in her own words …

“I have been using Photoshop since the early 90’s (Version 1.0). I have a genetics degree and I started using the program in my first real lab job making scientific images for publications and was the editing “expert” in the lab. I also did a lot of crazy head-swapping of my bosses.

I worked as a scientist for over 10 years and left when I had my first son. I stayed at home and was busy with my baby, but I also love to learn and had a million baby photos I wanted to edit. So I picked out a pile of books on Photoshop at the library and spent hours and hours late at night when the baby was sleeping; reading, googling tutorials and videos, and experimenting with different editing techniques on my baby images.

Around 2008 I started The CoffeeShop Blog to share my editing techniques with my sister who lived hours away. In addition, we were completely broke since my husband was starting his optometry practice, so I wanted to create free downloads of actions, presets, and digital designs to share with moms like me that had no extra money. Meanwhile, I met a wedding photographer who needed an editor so I got my first job in my new field. I learned Lightroom next by books/googling and edited thousands of images for him over the next couple of years.

I had a second baby and my blog was growing, so suddenly I was a graphic designer and a small business owner, work-at-home mom with two little boys. I never looked back and my small business gives me nothing but joy and allows me to constantly create and learn new things! And since I appreciate sites like The Graphics Fairy, that have shared so much for free and allowed me to use these things on my blog, I decided that I would keep everything on my blog free with very generous terms of use. I am also very honored and excited to be an Instructor on The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership Site and hope to see you there!!!“
