Hey, everyone! Heather Naggy of Ruby and Pearl xo, one of our amazing Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Seaside Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Heather tell you all about her lovely project!
Hello Everyone! Today I am sharing my design team project for the month of April 2021. For this month I decided to choose a Seaside theme… somewhat mixed with summertime florals. I was very inspired by the color combination of blue and yellow. I know it isn’t common to think of yellow as a seaside color, but I feel like it really worked in this journal! I also mixed in some pretty pale greens and a touch of purple. I am always so inspired by color and it usually drives my creative process. I almost always choose a color palette before I choose a theme.
I created an envelope style journal for my base.. I searched YouTube for Envelope Journal and there were many tutorials out there. I used some vintage envelopes I had to make my cover and also included many handmade envelopes inside the journal as well.. I loved how the Graphics Fairy has so many envelope templates to help me with creating them.
The Graphics Fairy Premium bundle Ocean Blues Ephemera is so beautiful. The mermaid lady in that bundle is just SO SO gorgeous. I have been planning a journal with her in it for months! I love all of the seaside ephemera too. There are many images with subtle hints of the Sea.. such as the girl collecting seashells or even some old Ephemera for seaside restaurants. I love that! I chose many of the images that had touches of blue.
No matter what theme I use in a journal, you will probably always find some type of florals from me. I loved using some of the white, blue and yellow florals I found on the site. I really liked mixing them with the sea theme. They gave a nice fresh feel… perfect for the summer season that is approaching for us here in the USA where I live. I can’t help but feel inspiration from the changing of the seasons.
