Spring Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Terri Kolte, has created a fabulous junk journal for us. As you know, we are featuring one new Junk Journal each week created by our team of talented artists. Our goal is that you be totally inspired by this series! Terri created a fun Spring Junk Journal! Be sure to check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…you need to scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired?
And now I will let Terri tell you about her project in her own words…
I’ve always enjoyed the process of creating a journal- from the initial stages of the structure, all the way through adding images and embellishments. It’s a creative process with many steps, but each one along the way gives me great satisfaction. I also realize there are others that may hesitate to create because they dread starting with the base structure.
There may be a solution! I stumbled across a pre-made journal at the scrapbook store a few months ago. I bought it- and promptly forgot all about it until last week. With a thin chipboard cover and paper ‘hinges’ attached inside, I had the perfect start. After “shopping” and printing my way through the bundles on the Premium Member site I was armed with a stack of images. With the addition of some stickers, a few paper clips and a length of ribbon I was armed and ready!
French Paperie offered printable that were the perfect base for many of the pages. Other pages were created from vintage sheet music and the Vintage Postcard bundle. Once the base pages were in place I got to work with the embellishments! A printable bookmark from Anne of Green Gables was added to both the cover and a pocket page. I used a lot of faux Floral Postage stamps throughout the pages.
Pockets created from Wedding Ephemera were filled with little bundles of journal blocks and ATCs paper-clipped together, plus some fabulous blank journal blocks.
Gift tags from the Wallpaper bundle combined with brightly feathered birds and crinkled seam binding added a textural element.
Pretty floral tabs were decorated with tiny word stickers. A pair of beautiful floral album pages rounded out the journal.
There is plenty of room to write, include some photos and maybe a few dried blossoms or even a ‘found’ feather.
This might be the perfect way to introduce a friend to junk journals or maybe to create a personal but quick gift. Another use might be as a little journal to take on a road trip? Print out some images and journal blocks, tuck in a pen and adhesive and you could be ready to hit the trail, collecting postcards and ephemera along the way!
