Top Hat Drawing Step 1
Step 1: Let’s draw the top part of the hat. Draw a square shape with a rounded top and bottom. Notice that the sides curve in slightly.
Step 2
Step 2: Next draw an oval shape starting about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of one side of the top and ending about 1/3 of the way up on the opposite side. Notice how the shape dips down more on the left side.
Step 3
Step 3: Now you’ll sketch in a line above the bottom of the hat top section. Follow the same circular shape of the bottom line to for the hat band. Then add two slightly curved vertical lines a little in from the right side.
Step 4
Step 4: To finish, let’s draw a half circle from the top side of the hat to the opposite side to make the top look flat. Sketch in some extra little lines inside the half circle, along the side of the hat, and inside the brim to give it more shape. Notice how the brim lines are farther apart in the middle of the hat and closer together on the sides.
The only thing left to do now is to color in your wonderful chapeau! Go grab your markers, Crayola crayons, oil pastels or color pencils, or whatever you have on hand, and finish your artwork masterpiece! This one is colored in with blues, purples, and blacks but you can let your creativity go wild and use whatever colors you like! You get to decide!
