You guys may recall a couple of weeks ago when I announced that we had purchased a new home, sold our old home, and moved. Yay! As promised, I’m showing a tour of our new home. The photos of the interior of the house, are from the day we settled on it. So you are seeing it on day 1, with no furniture, no paint, nothing done to it yet!
Here’s the front of our house. It’s a fairly typical colonial home in a neighborhood of similar homes. We are excited to have brick on the front of the house, it’s such a nice classic look and more durable than vinyl.
This is our new foyer. I fell in love with the cherry floors in this house, that was a huge selling point for us! The planks are much wider than the floors in our Old House.
This is the living room. I’ve always wanted to have a home with a Bay Window, this home has 3 of them! And as you can see the Living Room has two of the three.
This is the Dining Room. It has a lovely tray ceiling … and a not so lovely brass chandelier! There is a matching brass chandelier in the Foyer. I’m itching to change out both of those light fixtures!
This is the family room. I love the big windows in here! The fireplace is almost exactly like the one in our old house.
This is the opposite side of the Family room. As you can see so far, nearly the whole house is a blank canvas, so many white walls to paint!
This is my husband’s office, as you can see the other Bay Window is in here and it has pretty French Doors leading into it.
The kitchen has Cherry cabinets and sandy colored granite. My dream kitchen was the White Martha Stewart Kitchen, from Home Depot, that I left behind at our old home, I’m just a white kitchen kind of girl I guess! But I can hardly complain about this kitchen. And the GE Stainless Steel appliances are really great, there’s even a convection oven! I might need some lessons on how to use that!!
The kitchen opens up to a light and bright Morning room with big beautiful windows!
The one area in the house that was already painted, are the master bedroom and bath. The bedroom is gray. It’s not a bad shade, so we will probably live with it for awhile. I don’t have any touch up paint though and no way of knowing what color it is, so it will need to be changed at some point, as there are some marks on the walls. I love the tray ceiling in here!
The bathroom is so pretty and the tile is nice and neutral!
This area is going to be used as my crafting area! I’m so excited to have windows { my old craft room had none} so that I can do my projects and photograph them all in the same space! Also, I’ll be able to stay toasty warm in the Winter next to that fireplace!
The previous owner used this space as a Gym, but I’ll be turning it into my office! My previous office had no windows at all, so again I’m really excited to have some light, even if the windows are a bit small, it’s still a huge improvement!
Now for the surprise!
Many of you may know my friend Johnnie’s blog, at Saved by Love Creations. Johnnie just moved into a new home too! While our home is in the suburbs… Johnnie and her husband purchased a Farm House in the Country! We thought it might be fun to coordinate our posts as we transform our homes, so that you guys can get twice the DIY/Decor inspiration for the price of one!! And when I say “price” of course we’re not gonna charge ya! Haha! We hope you will enjoy following our journey’s as we turn our houses into homes! You can see Johnnie’s Home Tour HERE.

Rosenthal’s Multi-Purpose Cleaner. It will take anything off the walls. We’re getting our house ready to put on the market either this weekend or next and the realtor recommended it. It is a miracle cleaner! We had to order ours though through a seller more than 50 miles from us, but it’s worth it.
Lovely home. Really lovely. And the fireplaces are always a huge plus. I’m sure it will have your personal touch in no time.

Thanks for the tip, I’ve never heard of that product before, I’ll be sure to look for it! Good luck with the sale of your home!

I would like to share a hint…Use Modern Master metallic paint and cover up the ugly gold on the fixtures!! Its easy and cost pennies…I buy $9 chandeliers and start painting as fast as I can..sometimes I dab using a gold and english brown on top or just straight English brown…if you like crystals you can go on line and buy them with tiny magnetics…when you are finished it looks like a very high end chandelier…just sayin!!
Karen Watson says
Thanks Pam! I’ve heard great things about that paint!

Your new home is wonderful, It’s hard to find correct words to show you how impresses I am by it. You have so many great features in your home, the floors are big one. Love the depth and beauty. The bay windows are going to be fun for you to decorate, wow will you have fun, so much to do. At least you’re starting out with white walls so not as hard as having to cover up black or purple. I love your new home very much, look forward to seeing what you do in it. You’ll be so busy making things, decorating, have fun with it all. Will you be buying new furniture or do you have enough for all your awesome rooms. Your craft room is wonderful with fireplace. Enjoy your new home. You’ve worked very hard, you deserve it.
Karen Watson says
Thanks JaneEllen!! You always leave such nice comments!! Yes, so true about the white walls, much better than something dark that would take multiple coats to cover!

I know you’re not a fan of the chandelier. So if you get rid of it can I have it? Seen a cool idea for a cake stand idea. Need a chandelier to do it.
Or have you considered painting it? You can also change the look by adding lamp shades. With your awesome pictures I am sure you can find one you like enough to mount on the shade. I see a burlap looking shade with Mermaid, or Starfish or even flowers on it. Just some ideas
Karen Watson says
Hi Judi,
Yes, you can have it! Haha! I hope you live close by, because it’s too big to ship! It sounds like a cool idea, I don’t think I’ve seen one of those made into a cake stand before!!
