2 Vintage Microscope Images
In this post I’m sharing some marvelous Vintage Microscope Images! A microscope is an instrument used to view small objects. The most common type of microscope in use today is the handheld optical or digital microscope, which uses light from a source such as an incandescent lamp or LED to illuminate the specimen being viewed. You can find out about cells and how they work, see bacteria under your fingernails, or even look at tiny insects! Science teachers often have microscopes in their classrooms so that students can examine specimens during science lessons. I’m not sure if the instruments below were used by students or scientists, but I think it’s so cool to see these early versions!
This one comes from an 1870’s Botany book. It’s an Engraving of a Botanist’s Microscope! I love the Typography on this one. This would work well for your Steampunk Projects or maybe even Halloween, for a spooky Laboratory display!
Here’s a nice one for your Steampunk projects!! This is an antique Microscope image from an 1890’s Farm Magazine. This one is more of a traditional style than the one above it. I had a very similar toy sized one when I was a child. It had belonged to my Dad when he was a child and he grew up to be a scientist! It was small but quite heavy as it was made from iron and it did actually work. Unfortunately it did not turn me into a budding scientist. Haha! But it was really cool. Anyway, this image is a very nice black and white engraving for your projects.
I hope you enjoyed this little collection of Vintage Microscope Images. You might also enjoy our Steampunk Image Archives found HERE.

Hi Julie,
Ugh, this is why I hate Explorer, it’s so buggy! My best advice to you is to switch your browser to Firefox or Google Chrome and the problem will go away. Both are free and so much nicer to use, since you will have less problems, pages will load faster, and they are both safer to use! However, if you really want to stay with Explorer, you probably need to upgrade to the latest version, hopefully that will fix it.
