I am REALLY excited to share tonight’s reader feature, which is this AWESOME DIY Kitchen Island, which was submitted by Michelle. This is really one of the coolest DIY’s I’ve seen in a while and I want to go out and make my own right now!
Michelle found an old tackle box (pictured below) at a thrift store, and decided to use that and an old storage unit she had at home already, to create this gorgeous kitchen island. After putting A LOT of elbow grease into cleaning, sanding, wood filling, and more sanding, she was finally able to attach the pieces together. She coated the piece with white chalk paint, and then added a coat of clear wax to finish it off. She added various new hardware, and then transferred the Grocery Graphic using the projector method. Last, she added a glass top and wheels for extra mobility.
Thank you, Michelle, for sharing this today! I can’t believe how stunning it turned out! To see her full tutorial and other projects, visit her blog. To learn how to transfer images yourself, visit the Transfer Methods Page.
