You guys may recall a couple of weeks ago when I announced that we had purchased a new home, sold our old home, and moved. Yay! As promised, I’m showing a tour of our new home. The photos of the interior of the house, are from the day we settled on it. So you are seeing it on day 1, with no furniture, no paint, nothing done to it yet!
Here’s the front of our house. It’s a fairly typical colonial home in a neighborhood of similar homes. We are excited to have brick on the front of the house, it’s such a nice classic look and more durable than vinyl.
This is our new foyer. I fell in love with the cherry floors in this house, that was a huge selling point for us! The planks are much wider than the floors in our Old House.
This is the living room. I’ve always wanted to have a home with a Bay Window, this home has 3 of them! And as you can see the Living Room has two of the three.
This is the Dining Room. It has a lovely tray ceiling … and a not so lovely brass chandelier! There is a matching brass chandelier in the Foyer. I’m itching to change out both of those light fixtures!
This is the family room. I love the big windows in here! The fireplace is almost exactly like the one in our old house.
This is the opposite side of the Family room. As you can see so far, nearly the whole house is a blank canvas, so many white walls to paint!
This is my husband’s office, as you can see the other Bay Window is in here and it has pretty French Doors leading into it.
The kitchen has Cherry cabinets and sandy colored granite. My dream kitchen was the White Martha Stewart Kitchen, from Home Depot, that I left behind at our old home, I’m just a white kitchen kind of girl I guess! But I can hardly complain about this kitchen. And the GE Stainless Steel appliances are really great, there’s even a convection oven! I might need some lessons on how to use that!!
The kitchen opens up to a light and bright Morning room with big beautiful windows!
The one area in the house that was already painted, are the master bedroom and bath. The bedroom is gray. It’s not a bad shade, so we will probably live with it for awhile. I don’t have any touch up paint though and no way of knowing what color it is, so it will need to be changed at some point, as there are some marks on the walls. I love the tray ceiling in here!
The bathroom is so pretty and the tile is nice and neutral!
This area is going to be used as my crafting area! I’m so excited to have windows { my old craft room had none} so that I can do my projects and photograph them all in the same space! Also, I’ll be able to stay toasty warm in the Winter next to that fireplace!
The previous owner used this space as a Gym, but I’ll be turning it into my office! My previous office had no windows at all, so again I’m really excited to have some light, even if the windows are a bit small, it’s still a huge improvement!
Now for the surprise!
Many of you may know my friend Johnnie’s blog, at Saved by Love Creations. Johnnie just moved into a new home too! While our home is in the suburbs… Johnnie and her husband purchased a Farm House in the Country! We thought it might be fun to coordinate our posts as we transform our homes, so that you guys can get twice the DIY/Decor inspiration for the price of one!! And when I say “price” of course we’re not gonna charge ya! Haha! We hope you will enjoy following our journey’s as we turn our houses into homes! You can see Johnnie’s Home Tour HERE.

A beautiful home, how exciting! Just a thought for the master bedroom with marks on the wall. Have you tried alcohol pads on it, the kind you use in your first-aid kit? Mine are 70% isopropyl alcohol. The alcohol partially dissolves the paint, and you can rub it around the mark to move paint onto it. Try it in an obsure spot first, but it is a trick I’ve used for years. Granted, it probably woudn’t be prudent to use it on a large mark, but it is great for the little small ones.

Wow!! That is such a great tip Marilyn!! Thank you so much for sharing that, I will try that for sure!

Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says
Very exciting, Karen! How great to have a blank canvas, too. I had the same issue of no left over paint from the previous owner when we moved into our condo 2 1/2 years ago. So far, we have lived with most of the rooms the color they were when we moved in since most of it was fresh, but our WC in the master bath needs to be painted now and I’m going to have to start from scratch there. Love your space for creating and your office. Are they adjacent? I envy you the windows as my creative space is actually a storage room so it has no windows.
Karen Watson says
Thank you Kathy!! Your creative space sounds just like my old one. There was nothing wrong with it, but it made it hard to get good photos while doing a project. I would have to stop in between each step and run the project over to a window or outside to photograph it, and then run back to the craft room again to work on it some more. Kind of like a relay race!! And yes, the 2 spaces are adjacent, my office opens up to the space with the fireplace, so very convenient!

Karen, I’m so excited for you and looking forward to seeing how you decorate your home. You could put anything against those gorgeous floors and it will be beautiful! Love the “2-fer” idea that you and Johnnie came up with! 🙂
Karen Watson says
Thanks Jane!! Yes, so fun that Johnnie and I ended up moving at the same time, it’s great to have someone to bounce ideas off of too!

What a gorgeous home! I’m so happy for you! All that “white canvas” is perfect for such a creative person as you and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. I’m fond of white kitchens and loved your other kitchen. Last summer we painted the walls and kitchen cabinets white and the light ended up spilling into the living room. That was a great bonus. I’m looking forward to seeing your beautiful space bloom!
Karen Watson says
Thank you Julia! Your kitchen sounds lovely!! It’s amazing how a project like that can affect the other rooms in your home, so glad it turned out just how you wanted it to!!
Tammy Whitley says

Ahrisha says
Wow girl. What a great looking house and it is already white inside. I surely would love that. The kitchen cabinets are wonderful. If your wanting it white hey, paint is pretty inexpensive. Can’t wait to see what you do with the decorating.

Karen Watson says
Thank you Ahrisha! Good point about the white paint! The only problem is if I paint them white, then I’m going to want white counter tops… and then I’m going to want my white farmhouse sink again … it could all snowball from there! Haha!
MICHELLE JAMES says
So exciting Karen! I can’t wait to see the progress & know I will get so much inspiration from you! I fell in love with the grey color you painted your old living room & my sister actually painted her bedroom the same color, as well as my good friend as I raved about it so much! I am planning on painting my bathroom soon and am curious to see what colors you go with. Congratulations! It is just beautiful.
Karen Watson says
Thanks so much Michelle!! There’s a good chance that you’ll see that gray SW color again in this house! That’s so awesome that your sister and your friend both used that color! And thanks for raving about it!!
