Hello again! It’s Lesly from Crescent Moon Journals. For my last Graphics Fairy Design Team journal, I thought I would make something a bit different since I have never made a ring-bound journal, I decided to go with that. I’ve used three rusty rings and tied a piece of tulle and lace to each ring. I then added a crocheted dangle to each. This journal’s focus is on photography and the capturing of a moment that passes as soon as the photo is taken. So, I’ve used photos from different time periods throughout the journal. The reason I chose this subject was my father
was a photographer. All through my childhood, he took photographs of a multitude of subjects. One of my favorite things to do was to go into his dark room and watch the photos come to life.
Starting with the cover I used a piece of heavy handmade paper and started layering. I used a Tim Holz frame and an enlarged photo from the 1930’s so it would fit frame. A piece of mica covers the photo. The quality of the photo is amazing as the original is quite tiny. I then just kept adding more lace until I got the look I wanted. I added a mother of pearl button and two old tiny roses in the upper right corner. The back cover is layered with an old book page and crocheted doily.
On the inside of the cover is a very old school report card. It’s on heavy paper so it was perfect to strengthen the cover even more. There is a mica pocket with an antique CDV card and a French letter. The bottom of the page has a piece of whitework topped with a 100-year-old flower trim. The next page has a lace flip covering part of a sheet music title page.
I’ve used a crepe paper ruffle with lace and a small photo pin to embellish the old leger page. This can be used as a shallow pocket.
I’ve made a simple bellyband to hold an envelope tag I made from an envelope that came with the group of 1930’s portraits I have. So, the envelope became the pocket on the tag.
Here I’ve made a lace pocket with a journaling card using one of the portraits I mentioned above. The following page is more of the title page from the sheet music.
This page is made from an old document. I’ve just folded it over to tuck the cabinet card and a journaling card under it. You can’t see the gentleman, but I think it’s the most handsome couple I’ve seen on a cabinet card (watch the video). The two following pages are made from an envelope I cut in half to make two pockets.
Part of an old vellum document is the base for this page. I’ve embellished it with a beautiful, embroidered fabric pocket, which holds a journaling card.
Onto a music sheet I’ve place a mica pocket to hold this wonderful Graphics Fairy photo.
We come to the end. Here you can see more of the same sheet music. The opposite page, which is the back cover, has an old Italian book page covering it, embellished with part of the crocheted doily that covers the back. I have left the doily open to create a pocket and attached another small, crocheted piece and another photo pin. All the graphics came from The Graphics Fairy Premium
website, unless they are old. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out The Graphics Fairy and become a member. You will be glad you did!
Thank you for joining me and I hope you will watch the video so you can see all the journal and the wonderful photos. I want to especially thank the Graphics Fairy for choosing me to be on this team. I have loved it and have loved making new friends and learning from them.
