14 Ephemera Bird and Poem Cards

Today we have an amazing collection of Ephemera Bird and Poem Cards! These charming pictures are from a wonderful little Antique Bird book in my collection. There is no title page or date in the book, but my best guess would be that it dates to around the 1880’s. Included are beautiful full color illustration of Birds and a Poem Ephemera piece that is written on the back. There are a few the end that do not include poems, because they were missing from my book. They would be lovely to tuck into the pocket of a Junk Journal! I hope you will enjoy this collection of Vintage Bird Illustrations.

Ephemera Bird and Poem Cards

Pictured above is a Vintage beautiful Bird with Red Head and Breast Image! This charming bird with streaked red sand brown plumage is a Linnet. It has a red head and speckled red breast with dark tail feathers. It is perched on a tiny curved branch amid beautiful yellow flowers. If you look closely you can see a Nest with Eggs in the background. I have also included a little Ephemera piece as well… it is a poem found in the book that was written about this bird. It’s quite sweet and has a wonderful aged patina to it.

I just love this Beautiful Old Singing Speckled Bird Image! This beautiful brown bird is a Thrush. He has hints of aqua on the neck and wings appears to be singing in this old print. The head is lifted and beak opened, displaying a speckled chest and tail feathers. He is standing on a small tree branch over a quiet lake. Included with this one is a lovely ephemera poem.

Featured above is a Beautiful Vintage Brown Spotted Bird with Eggs Image! This sweet bird is a Cuckoo! It has a brown coat with white throat and spotted chest, and has a hint of blue on its belly. It is guarding a nest of blue speckled eggs from a small branch in thick leafy background. There is also a nice little Ephemera Poem to go with this lovely bird.

Here we have a gorgeous set of Ephemera Bird and Poem Cards. Above is a charming Bird Print comes from an 1870’s British Bird Book. Perched on a pretty Floral Branch is a sweet Bullfinch. I’ve enlarged this so that you can use it as an Instant Art Printable, perfect for framing!

Here we have a very lovely Black Bird. I think the colors are particularly pretty on this one! His little poem looks like it printed off center and a bit crooked.

This is beautiful Robin in the snow. I’ve included his poem as well. Lovely!

Ephemera Bird Cards

Here is the latest addition to this collection. Isn’t this charming? Here we have a nightingale singing on a branch. I’m not sure if that is the Moon in the background or if the Sun is starting to come up.

Here is another Card of a sweet Bird. This one is a Chaffinch, I’m not familiar with that one, but I’m guessing it’s in the Finch family. I think the colors are so fun, and I love the Pink and Blue Combo! This little Birdy looks like he’s about to have a snack!

Pictured above is a Vintage Yellow-breasted Green Bird Image! This is a lovely image of a bird with green feathers and a sunny yellow breast sitting on a branch over a flowing river. There are green grasses with a hint of pink in the sky and flowers. There was no poem in the book for this guy, or the one above.

I think you may have the pictures of the thrush and cuckoo mixed with each other.

I Love this illustration, it’s so restful and beautiful! Art from the past is so much better than what I see today; people really took the time to capture the exquisite and subtle details of nature.
