Nest and Egg Fabric Gift Bag DIY
I hope you will enjoy this Nest and Egg Fabric Gift Bag DIY. I’m so excited to share with you this project, and even more excited to share with you this image!! This weeks crafty project is this cute burlap nest and egg bag. This post is for any crafters out there looking to make a cute and affordable gift this holiday season. I am going to show you how to make fabric gift bags that are perfect for holding tiny gifts or party favors! It’s easy, quick, and very budget friendly. The best part is these bags can be personalized with your favorite images and motifs. So if Nests and Eggs aren’t your thing, customize with whatever image you like. Let’s get started!

Here’s the before pic, I used these plain bleached burlap or jute bags. You can purchase the burlap bags here if you like, or if you’re handy with a sewing machine, you could always make your own. The size that I used were the 6″ by 10″ bags. I Printed the Image directly onto my fabric, Click HERE for Technique, again using some canvas drop cloth fabric and my inkjet Printer, that prints with waterproof ink. (Unfortunately they do not appear to be making that printer any more, but these are gift bags so you don’t need to wash them, so a regular inkjet printer should be fine for this project) After printing, I cut my fabric down to size, and pulled some threads around the edges to give it a rustic looking fringed effect. Lastly I just hot glued the fabric right to the front of the bag! Super easy and fun!!
I hope you enjoyed this Fabric Gift Bag DIY! I filled the bag with some fine French soaps. This would make a great hostess gift for Thanksgiving or cute for someone that just moved into a new home!!

Tammy,
Does the freezer paper stick from the heat of the iron, or do you have to use an adhesive?

Karen-
I love this graphic and will use it this week in a few projects I’m working on. I love being able to print right onto the fabric…I use just plain ol’ freezor paper…just cut the fabaric to 8 x 11 and iron on the freezor paper- it goes thru just fine & a little cheaper than the label paper.
Thanks for all the great graphics! I also have a folder full!

I’m so glad you all liked my project and the nest print!
Jeanine,
Good point! I just folded up a piece of paper and stuffed it in the inside of the bag, before gluing.

Love these! Wondering what you placed in between the bag to keep the hot glue from going over to the other side?

Hi Inkiu,
I wouldn’t suggest washing it, if your ink runs when wet on paper items, it will run when wet on the fabric items. Some printers, use inks that are water resistant, like certain Epsons, if you have one of those, then you might have better luck! Since this is a gift bag though, no need to wash it. There are some sprays that can be used for UV protection.
Thanks for the tips on the transparency issue. I’m glad you have found so many images that you can use in your art!

Interesting tecnique. Does the print resist washing? I usually use sublimation ink on paper and then transfer it onto the fabric.
Btw, it doesn’t matter if the background of the image is transparent or white, since the printer doesn’t have white ink, it won’t show up anyway (unless it’s not completely white).
I’ve been visiting your blog for a while and since this is the first time I leave a comment I’d like to tell you that I enjoy your uploads very much. I even have a “graphics fairy” folder where I saved more than 100 images that I liked. Keep up the good work! 🙂
