DIY Furniture Transfer Mermaid Dresser
Today I’m sharing another gorgeous Furniture project by reader Annie Spackman! Annie DIYed an old dresser to come up with this fabulous Mermaid Dresser! Wouldn’t this look great in a Beach House?! I think she picked the perfect colors for this piece too!
Here’s what Annie had to say about this project “I took a dresser I found on Craigslist and revamped it with chalk paint and a graphic. Total cost was around $45. Super fun transformation!”
Supplies:
1)Old Dresser
2) Chalk Paint
4) Mod Podge
5) Sealer
Steps:
Step 1) Paint your dresser with Chalk Paint in your desired color combination.
Step 2) Enlarge the graphic (you can have this done at your local copy store)
Step 3) Apply the graphic using the Mod Podge Transfer method from HERE. (Select method #7)
Step 4) Seal with a Top Coat Sealer (These typically come in spray on or brush on formulas)
Here’s a close up. I love how this turned out!! Thanks so much for submitting another fabulous project Annie!! These are great tips. I’ve been painting with chalk paint small thing. I really like your tutorial

did you wax the furniture first? If not won’t the dampening at the end of the project wash away the paint??
Annie Spackman says
Hi Kathy, I did not wax the dresser first. I had bit of color come off around edges of graphic but I just went back with a small brush and touched up. When all was said and done, the touch up blended right in…yay!

I used this same graphic on a bench for my bathroom. It was my first attempt using wax paper transfer. I guess the wood was to rough because it didn’t transfer well. I tried it again on a table and it turned out great. Thanks for all your wonderful images and project ideas.
