DIY Vellum Wrapped Candles
Hey guys. Lynne Morgado of Mockingbird and Main, one of our glorious Mixed Media Design Team members is featured this week. She shares her lovely DIY Vellum Wrapped Candles with you! Each week we will highlight another Mixed Media project, created by one of the amazing Designers on our team. The designers are tasked to use images from our Premium Membership Site to provide inspiration for your own projects. Be sure to check out her Show and Tell Video below. Please scroll down to the end of this post to see her video. Be prepared to be inspired! I will now allow Lynne to tell you all about her art in her own words…
Hello again everyone. I am back to show you my quick and easy June Mixed Media Design Team Project.
Using Vellum
Vellum is commonly used in card making and scrapbooking as an overlay to images or lettering, but I use vellum quite a bit in my junk journals and I really enjoy printing directly onto it.
This DIY Vellum Wrapped Candles project came about after I saw a paper wrapped candle with printed images on Pinterest. When I saw the Artistic Landscapes Bundle on The Premium Membership Website the idea clicked and I thought those images would be really beautiful printed onto vellum and used to wrap around a clear glass candle holder.
I simply resized and printed my images onto vellum, cut them out and wrapped them around the glass candle holders I had chosen, securing with clear tape.
A complete tutorial with some helpful hints and alternative ideas will be coming soon to The Premium Membership site.
I do like to repurpose items and use items I already have in my craft supplies stash. With that in mind you can use mason jars or the clear glass vases we seem to be unable to part with after receiving flowers (or is that just me?).
Most department stores, discount stores and craft stores will also have some sort of reasonably priced clear glass vases and candle holders. Check out your local thrift stores & yard sales also.
I have used battery operated tea light candles for safety reasons. These can also be found in most department and craft stores. To give you the full effect of these vellum wrapped candles here is a photo with the lights off and the candles on. I hope it does the finished project justice.
The light shining through the vellum images is subtle and beautiful.
Ephemera I Used
You are not limited to using the full size images, you can also use smaller images and create your own printable wraps. This inspiration bundle for this project was the Artistic Landscapes Bundle. I have also used images from the Fairyland Landscapes Bundle.
With a project as easy as this one you can quickly change out your images for the seasons, for a holiday or event or for your own decor style. The butterflies found in the Delicate Butterflies Bundle would be beautiful scattered on your vellum with the candlelight shining through. The possibilities are truly endless. Let your imagination run wild.
The Fourth of July is coming up soon here in the US and you could create some candle wraps to place outside on your patio table or deck with images from Vintage Americana Bundle.

Love this! I did this with candleholders from Dollar Tree and large jar candles incorporating our wedding logo. It was so fun and a wow factor. Thanks for sharing – love the beautiful landscape design on the vellum.
