Today we have a fun collection of black and white Skeleton Key Clipart Images and Locks. These Skeleton Key clipart images are fun and interesting. This curated set of vintage key and lock images are unusual and captivating. I thought these images might be great to use in your Steampunk projects. The whole collection could even be used to create an amazing lock and key junk journal. I could just see a skeleton key dangling from the cover. Of course the vintage clipart is perfect for a Mixed Media Collage or craft project. Enjoy these antique skeleton key and lock pictures and have fun creating.
Fun Old Skeleton Key Images
Above is an interesting looking Paris Key Graphic from an Old French Document! The Key has some fun Typography with it. You don’t see modern keys that are so stylish very often!I’ve also included the key without the writing, to give you some other options.
Here is an old fashioned looking Skeleton Key with a square bottom. It was scanned from an antique Typography book.
The above image is a silhouette of the fancy Ornate Key in the previous image. I love the twisted shank on the key.
I was watching Once Upon a Time the other night, and the Evil Queen had a ring of Skeleton Keys with Skulls on them. I thought it would be fun to make something similar so I merged one of my old Apothecary Skull images with a Vintage Skeleton Key. Eerie but cool, isn’t it?
The Key shown above is the original drawing of the skull key. It is a wonderful Ornate Key from an 1870’s Science Magazine! Isn’t this a great illustration?
Skeleton Key Game Pieces
This great looking antique skeleton key is from an old Victorian children’s card game. I hope you can find a fun use for it in your art!
Vintage Lock Illustrations
The lock pictured above I find intriguing in that it really is very similar to the locks (e.g., Masterlock) made today. This is another one that would work great for Steampunk projects.
Above is another stylish lock from yesteryear. It is a crisp clear illustration that shows holes on the lock body and a wide bar closure. It is also from an antique Typography book.
I hope you enjoyed this curated collection of Skeleton Key Clipart Images and Locks. You might also like our 7 Vintage Clock Images HERE!

Karen, these are great! The more ornate ones are my favorites, especially the one from the 1870’s Science Magazine. I also really like the one on the children’s game card. The background really sets that one off.
A fun post. Thanks!

KEY COMPANIES – my question is, I wonder when current key manufacturers (Kwikset, Yale, etc are going to catch on to how popular old key designs are and start putting out some modern counterparts?!? They’ve had lots of other decorative keys out for years now (there’s an adorable molded one with a fleur-de-lis – you’ll all probably *love* it), so they must have the technology, and their sales would be excellent! Anyway, thank you, Graphics Fairy, for all you do! Everything you share is always soooo wonderful – so valuable to keep the sense of history from passing of our culture, with these real images from our past!
