Halloween Printable Sign

Hi everyone…hope you are all having a fabulous October, it’s Andrea here from The Cottage Market. Well Halloween is right around the corner and I thought that I would give you a simple project that is almost done for you before you even start! How about a Halloween Sign declaring your home a Dead and Breakfast? Spooky!

I used the Haunted Mansion Image Here to create this fun Wall Decor piece, that you can make too! You can make signs or you can even make these into a transfer and you can put it on muslin and make flags…it’s your call…

Supply List for Halloween Printable Sign:

The Supplies you will need are…

Wood or Foam Core (cut to the size of your sign)
Mod Podge
Paint
A brush
pair of scissors
ribbon (if you choose to string yours)
a picture hook
Free Printable Download (see bottom of post)

That’s all you need, pretty simple!

Step 1: First you print your image in the size you choose and cut it out.

Step 2: Now it is time to paint your sign with the color of your choice. I used a thinner wood and black paint. If you are not a fan of cutting wood…just go ahead and cut some foam core…it is so easy and works great!

Step 3: Now all you have to do is brush the back of the print with Mod Podge, or your favorite adhesive, and place on your painted sign. Smooth it out nice…try not to get any bubbles. I had mine printed on card stock and that really helps the application. You could also use a brayer if you have one, but it’s not necessary.

Step 4: If you would like to hang your sign with ribbon or twine…simply drill holes on both ends and string your ribbon or twine through and it is ready! Or you may prefer to attach a picture hanger in the back…whatever you choose…it will be perfect.

Step 5: If you are hanging your sign on a wall…try a push pin and glue a skull on top of it for effect! It’s fun and the kids will love it.

How about a T-Shirt or Apron…there are tons of uses for this fun print…just use your imagination! (Note: This post was originally created in 2013, so the photos show that year on the printable. In order to make this project work for many years to come, we have updated the printable to remove the date)

You can hang your homemade printable Halloween sign on your front doors so when your trick or treaters are on your front porch, they can see your spooky decor on Halloween night. It would be great to use inside your house too for a Halloween Party. You could create a cute vignette and display Pumpkins, a Skeleton or Ghost, and maybe a rubber spider or 2 as well. Spooky!!
