Hidden Pockets
I am so happy to be back with my July Design Team project for The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership Website. Sometimes the blank page or starting point of a project can be a little overwhelming. You’ve gathered your favorite images, ephemera, and maybe some lace and trims, then you say…now what?
This definitely happens to me from time to time and it can be very frustrating…when what I’ve envisioned in my mind just doesn’t work on a junk journal page. I have a really fun project to show you that I hope will inspire you. Hopefully, the next time you’re looking at the blank page of a junk journal or if you’ve been wanting to create your first junk journal you will have a few more ideas to experiment with.
Ephemera Used
I fell in love with the Royal Life Bundle as soon as I saw it, knowing I wanted to create a junk journal with the images and ephemera pieces included in the bundle. I love creating ring bound or lace bound styles of junk journals, including layered and collaged pages with vintage laces and linens. Certainly I knew that using the Royal Life Bundle would be an ideal style of junk journal.
Here I’ve created one page to start my journal and I wanted to share it with you. Using six book pages sewn together I created a base page to work on. To the page I have added a layer of lace and a vintage doily to create pockets.
Above are a few of the images I collaged onto the pages to create more interest. I then added the various journaling cards and tags that I created from the printable sheets available in the Royal Life Bundle: Royalty Bookmarks, Royalty Playing Cards, and Royalty Altered Altoid Tins are depicted.
I have also embellished the pages using torn pieces of the wash tape printables found here on the Ephemera Collection Bundle.
You will see how I create this style page and give you a couple of ideas for one of my favorite elements in a junk journal: hidden pockets. That tutorial is coming soon to the Premium Membership site.
