7 Metal Frame Images
Today we have a nice collection of interesting Metal Frame Images! All are illustrated in black and white. These frames would have been made by a talented blacksmith back in the day. They appear to be quite heavy duty to last forever. I believe that these frames would have been made of iron over one hundred years ago. All are really nice pictures to use in your craft or DIY Projects. These would be fun to decoupage onto a box, or cute to use in Web or Blog design! I can also see you using them for your Steampunk or Junk Journals projects as well!
Metal Frame Images
Here we have three Vintage Hardware Frame Images above. I think this is such a fun set! These were scanned from an early 1900’s Hardware Store Catalog. The small metal frames were most commonly used to label boxes or small drawers. The intended purpose of these frames was quite simple. A card would have been placed inside of the frame indicating what was stored inside of the box or drawer. They even have a little handle attached along with some nail holes. The handle made the drawer easier to pull open and close of course, and the nail holes for setting them permanently in place with nails or screws. I wish I had some of these to put on my craft drawers!
Pictured above are three more Vintage Metal Frame Images, providing for another nice set! These were also scanned from the same early 1900’s Hardware Store Catalog as the previous frames. They are also small metal frames that had the same function as the previous ones, being typically used to label boxes or small drawers. These are more utilitarian in shape and style. These have nail holes as well, but are slightly different than the previous set in that they do not have the little pull handles on them.
Fancy Metal Frame Picture
The metal frame image shown above is obviously more ornate that the previous ones. I love the intricate book matched patterns on the left and right sides. The top and bottom edges of the frame feature two unique designs. I like the way the frame disappears inside the tunnels on each style. I would imagine that a Blacksmith would have made something like this as well as the others in this collection. Blacksmiths were (and still are) amazing craftsman in my view. This metal frame would have surely taken many hours to make, including a lot of hard work and patience!
I hope you enjoyed this fun curated collection of Images! You might also like the 150+ Images in our Frame Clipart Archives HERE or the 60+ Images in our Steampunk Archives HERE!

Thank you so much for these wonderful images! Point of information, these sorts of things were pretty much always brass. Widely used because they could be machine-stamped. Just google “1800’s file cabinet” and you’ll see. Asia used iron, but not the western world.
