Pearle Vision
Have you had your vision checked lately? I had a chance to check out the Pearle Vision Eye Care Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and I’m going to walk you guys through the whole fascinating process. My good friend Lisa was kind of enough to go with me {and drive too} to help me pick out some cute new eyeglasses! We hopped in her minivan and headed over to Pearle Vision! Here I am checking in with Jenny. Jenny also works in the frames department and was a huge help with selecting frames – more on that later.
History of Pearle Vision
I learned a bit of History about Pearle Vision while I was there. Did you know that the founder of Pearle Vision was Dr. Stanley Pearle? He founded the company in 1961, with the concept of a one-stop place for total eye care, so that you could get your eye exam and your glasses all in one place! Today there are nearly 600 Pearle Vision Eye Care Centers located all over the U.S. They focus on hiring experienced top quality doctors in order to deliver genuine eye care to their patients. The doctor who examined me was very knowledgeable and patient with me. She listened to my needs {that’s hugely important to me!} and answered all of my questions.
Eye Exam
The exam went smoothly and was painless!
Pearle Vision Frames
Next we headed out to the retail area to pick out some Pearle Vision frames! I tried on lots of glasses! {These are not the ones that I got, you’ll have to wait until later to see that!} Lisa tried on some glasses too! It was interesting to see how what worked for one of us, did not work for the other. Jenny had loads of tips for picking out the right color and shape of frame, depending on your face shape, coloring, etc. She really knew her stuff! It was great to have Lisa there too to weigh in with her opinion, and it made the day even more fun!
On Site Lab
Now, this was a huge surprise to me! Did you know that they have the lab right there on site?!! Here’s Jenny, back in the lab, checking to see if they had my prescription in stock, which they did. So Lisa and I went to lunch and when we came back, my glasses were ready for me to take home! Apparently, in most cases they can do that for you. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was!! Here we are back at my house. We filmed a video of our trip to Pearle Vision, and in this shot we are wrapping up what happened during the day. You’ll be able to see the video at the bottom of this post and then you’ll know why my eyes are popping! It may or may not have to do with a big sale that they had going on, that caused me to get 2 pairs of glasses instead of 1! I’ll reveal both the pairs of glasses that I got in the follow-up post! To wrap up for now though, here’s what I loved about my trip to Pearle Vision in a nutshell. I found it to be amazingly convenient, for these reasons:
- I was able to get an appointment right away
- They emailed me the paperwork in advance, so I could fill it out before I got there
- There was no wait when I got there; my exam started as soon as I entered the center
- The Doctor, and all of the staff, were experienced, knowledgeable and well trained
- I got expert advice on picking out frames
- They made my eyeglasses right there, in about an hour!
All and all it was a great experience. I love my new glasses, and we’ll be using Pearle Vision for all of our family’s eye care needs from now on. Also, Lisa was impressed and will be making an appointment too!
New Glasses Reveal
Back at my house Lisa and I filmed a video discussing the Pearle experience.
I received an eye exam from a top notch doctor, using all the latest equipment. My doctor had quite a few years of experience, she was very patient and explained everything that she was doing as we progressed through the exam. She was also a great listener and answered all my questions! I felt like I was in really good hands! I got to choose from a large selection of frames in the retail section of the EyeCare Center. They had so many pretty frames to choose from! For those of you that are into top designer brands, you will love all the great names like, Tiffany & Co, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Coach, etc. I was shocked {and thrilled!} to find out that they had a lab right there and could make my glasses on the spot, while Lisa and I were at lunch! Here I am wearing them already during the check-out process. Such a huge time saver!
Pearle Vision Glasses
Here I am back at home with my new eyeglasses! I can finally see to read again, and to look at my computer. They are very comfortable too. You may remember that I told you, that I would explain in a future post, why my eyes were popping in this photo! Did you guess from the photo above?! It’s because they were running a buy one get one free special! Woohoo!! I was able to get a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. Now I can read on the beach, at the pool, on my patio or wherever! Yay! Lisa and I also made a video about our day, so that you can get the inside scoop on the Pearl Vision experience! You can watch it below… and then afterwards you can call your local Pearle Vision and schedule an appointment!
What is Pearle Vision Glasses Return Policy
They have a no-questions asked return policy on eyewear purchased at their stores for 30 days from purchase date. If you’re not satisfied with your glasses/eyeglasses, just bring them back in their original condition and they’ll make things right. They will adjust them, fix them, exchange them or replace them for you. Easy peasy!

When did you last get your eyes checked? Have you visited Pearle Vision?

Yes, I’ve been wearing prescription glasses for watching TV and driving since I was 15. I take care of my eyes by getting regular eye exams.

I actually had LASIK done in 1999 because my stigmatism was so bad. I still go for yearly check ups, though!

I’ve had many eye problems and wore glasses for many years with a twice a year check up. In the last 2 years (due to hereditary eye problems) I had 17 eye surgeries, the last 2 being the second corneal transplant – each eye. I now wear a special lens on my left eye and will be tested soon to see if a lens will improve my vision on my right eye. Always take care of your eyes with frequent visits and if something unusual happens you will be more prepared to handle the problem when it comes up. Special eyeglass cleaning cloths are the best to take care of your glasses. Ask your eye Dr. if he will provide you with one of these.

I wear inexpensive readers and my glaucoma specialist has encouraged me to stick with ’em until I absolutely have to upgrade. I do have glaucoma, which I’ve kept under control for more than 30 years with various prescription eye drops. I have my pressures checked every four months and encourage everyone to have their pressures checked just to make sure they don’t have the pressure build-up that causes damage to the optic nerve. My grandfather went blind from untreated glaucoma so it’s in my genes.

I used to brag that I had perfect vision. Then I turned forty. I think the day after my fortieth birthday was the day I started needing reading glasses, and if I’m exaggerating it isn’t by much. My first pair of nice prescription reading glasses were mangled by my then two year old. I have been to the eye doctor only once since then and received another pair of good glasses, but I mostly use the over-the-counter,cheap, 3 pair for $15 super jumbo pack from CVS. That way I can have a pair everywhere I need them without having to remember to carry them with me and I don’t have to care (much) if I lose a pair or my now 5 year old decides to bend them into a pretzel shape.

I wore glasses from the age of 11 to the age of 24. That’s when I got contacts. Six years ago I had Lasic surgery and it was a great success. I get my eyes examined every year.

I have been wearing glasses since I was five years old and I have run the gamut with frames. But I always appreciate a knowledgeable person at the optical shop who can honestly tell you what frames will look best on your face and with the strong prescription that I require. Thanks so much for your website, I have told so many people about your services. God Bless.

I get my eyes checked about every 5 years and I do not wear glasses. But both my mom and brother have worn glasses their whole life. I also wear sunglasses regularly.

I wore glass mainly for reading and seeing the small stuff they were my 40th birthday present to myself! Now I go to an ophthalmologist for check ups and adjustments to my prescription every 6 months for screening or more often when I am experiencing problems as I have an autoimmune disorder that attacks the optic nerves. My vision is very precious to me and I want to keep it as long as possible, my ophthalmologist is helping me to do that.

I wear eyeglasses, and I take care of my eyes by having them checked every year for changes. I am getting older and I think it is so important to get a yearly checkup! That is how I take care of my eyes.

I wear glasses; they are uncomfortable to wear so I only wear them while driving. I take care of my vision by not abusing them: minimize strain from reading and computers as much as I can.

I get my eyes checked when I remember, rest them when they are tired – who am I kidding! I keep reading until they won’t stay open anymore. 🙂
