Secret Country Garden Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Lesly Williams of Crescent Moon Journals, one of our amazing new Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Secret Country Garden Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Lesly introduce herself, and tell you all about her incredible project…
My name is Lesly Williams and I’m very excited to be sharing my first Graphics Fairy design team project. I’ve been making journals for about two years after I was gifted one for Christmas.
For this journal I used an antique French book cover. The spine was in bad shape as was the rest of the book. I used some vintage fabric to construct and expand a new spine.
The inside pastedown endpapers are from the Graphics Fairy French Blue and Cream Ephemera bundle. I felt it had the feel of being inside the house and looking outside onto the next page. For this reason, I didn’t embellish this particular page layout. The page to the right is from the Graphics Fairy Chateau Life bundle. I’ve used bits and pieces of various Graphics Fairy bundles throughout the journal. I also used a lot of antique ephemera throughout.
I’ve included a printable from the Vibrant Birds bundle with a stitched heart pocket. The opposite page is vintage wallpaper with a lace pocket embellished with a paper flower, both with antique cards.
This page is created with some old sheet music and a bird printable from the Graphics Fairy. I created a pocket made from trim that looks vine like and filled with an antique card. The opposite page is a hand drawing from a very old sketchbook. It looked like the layout for a garden, so I had to include it.
This page has a Graphics Fairy wallpaper background with a pocket made from old script and antique floral card. The opposite page is paper (I think originally it was meant for wrapping paper) with different scripts and spots of gold throughout.
This is probably my favorite page. I love the image of the girls. It was my inspiration for this secret garden journal. I created a frame surrounded by a leaf trim for this beautiful image of the girls in the garden from the Graphics Fairy flower children. The top right corner has some stenciling with texture paste. The page to the left is a treated napkin.
Here I used one of the Graphic Fairy great collage pages and added a lace tuck and an embossed frame with the image of a sweet little girl.
The center of this signature is created from the Graphics Fairy Chateau Life bundle. One of the journaling cards is from the Heritage Wallpaper bundle and the young lady is created from the Coffee & Cream Ephemera bundle. Although my lady is original, the same image can be found in the Coffee & Cream Ephemera bundle.
The format of this page is created from the Graphics Fairy Tattered Treasures bundle with an antique lace pocket and ribbon. Up at the top is a handmade fabric snippet which I acquired from another journal maker. The pocket has an antique card and French letter. This Graphics Fairy has many bundles with wonderful patterns to choose from.
The page on the left is from the Naturalist’s Library bundle and on the right is handmade paper with flora inclusions and a pocket made from various lace pieces. It holds a large antique journaling card.
The page on the left shows a Graphics Fairy background with a pocket made from an antique card and filled with various antique ephemera. The page on the right is made from a 19th century document.
Lastly, on the left is a page of handmade paper with a journaling card tucked into a snippet. The base of the journaling card is made from the Heritage Wallpaper bundle. On the right is a page made from Naturalist’s Library bundle. There are so many wonderful bundles and images to choose from on the Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site. A list of the bundles I used is below.

I enjoyed seeing your journal very much! Junk journals haven’t been of interest to me in the past but seeing this one has inspired me to try my hand. You mentioned “a treated napkin”. Do you mind telling me how you treated it to look like cloth?
Thank you!

Hi Marjir! Thank you for your wonderful comment.💕 I learned the napkin technique from a video by Sharon Hoerth. Here’s the link. https://youtu.be/JHgS_T-5sFw

Isn’t it fun to use the available art from Graphics Fairy? Whatever will we do with all this?
