14 Vintage Ship Images
Today we have an amazing collection of Vintage Ship Images! I don’t really know why, but there is something so fascinating for me with these images of old, majestic Sailing Vessels and Steamships / Ocean Liners. Designing these Sailing Ships was surely a remarkable feat for the times. We have a set of Old Ship Cards in Delft Blue and a few gorgeous Antique Scrap Die Cuts. There are small Sailboats, Schooners, and massive Sailing Ships, plus a couple of large Steamships. We even have a Pirate Ship! I think it would be fun to use for a Kid’s Birthday Party! All are nice Vintage Ship Clip Art pictures to use in your Coastal and Sea themed projects, or great for a masculine card!. They would all be fun for your Nautical Style DIY Projects as well!
Vintage Ship Images
Pictured above is a Vintage Ship Stock Image! This impressive Image shows a large Ship sailing on the Sea. The wind must be blowing hard since the waves appear to be quite big. An American flag is proudly blowing on the top sail in front. Sails from another Ship can be seen in the distance. A couple of Sea birds are flying close by. The greenish color of the water is alluring for me, and I also think the clouds and sky are so pretty on this piece!
This one is an Antique Scrap Die Cut piece of a wonderful Vintage Ship! It looks like a very fine one, but I don’t know if it has historical significance. The Ship has loads of beautiful sails and a flag along the top. There is even a tiny row boat occupied by two people along the side of it.Here we have another wonderful Vintage Ship Image! This one is a Victorian Scrap die cut piece. This Ship is unusual though, in that it appears to run by both steam and sails. It looks like it was quite a powerful boat in its day. Again, I am unsure if this one is in the history books, but because it is a sail-steam combo it very well might be! I don’t recall ever seeing one like it.
Delft Blue Vintage Ship Pictures
Featured above is a beautiful set of Old Cards displaying some wonderful Engraved Images of Sailboats! I love the Blue on Blue tones on these. They remind me of Delft Tiles! This card series is so interesting because it includes English, American, Syrian, and Chinese versions of Sailboats with their unique designs.
Antique Ship Clip Art
Here is a Vintage Ship Clipart piece! This lovely boat is from an early Printer’s book, Circa 1828. Such a gorgeous image with all the sails, the American Flag, choppy waves, and the little Sailboat in the background. The detail is really amazing on this piece, especially considering how old it is! I believe this is most likely a wood print.
This is an Antique Ship Engraving! Shown is a nice old black and white Illustration of a Three Masted Schooner (I believe), sailing on the Ocean. Another impressive image!
Here is a fine Stock Ship Image! This vintage black and white image shows a large Steamship, sailing on the Ocean. There looks to be a good bit of steam blowing horizontally, which means it must have been moving along pretty fast! This one is also from the early 1900’s Printer’s book.
Pirate Ship Images
This cute Pirate Ship image is from an early 1900’s song booklet. It was on the cover actually. Even with the skull and bones it is still a cute illustration I think. I’ve had requests for these in the past, but they can be hard to find. I was so pleased to finally come up with something for you guys!
This is an early 1920’s graphic of an old ship, from a vintage typography book. The original image is at the bottom, complete with clouds, waves and a Sea Monster! I created a second image with just the ship, and added the Skull and Cross Bones to the sail to make it look a bit more pirate like.
I hope you enjoyed this fun curated collection of Vintage Ship Clipart! You might also like Best Ocean Images HERE and our Vintage Sailboat Pictures HERE.

Personally I don’t care what kind of ships they are, they’re gorgeous but it’s nice to be educated. You are so right Karen, the commentors were only trying to educate us, no meanness intended. But we’d sure stick up for you if you needed it.

Maybe I’m wrong. I just googled for ships with steam-engine AND sails. And there are some … well, I haven’t heard of it before. I only knew these kind of pictures with a large steam-cloud from whalingships.
Karen, if I’m wrong (and I hope so), please delete my comments here, because I don’t want to start a discussion here and of course I don’t want to criticize you at all.

Hi Kim, It’s ok. You might be right, I’m not sure either. Thanks for doing some research, I learn new things all the time from my readers, it makes it interesting I think!

Thanks Karen!

Hey Karen, I think the picture shows a whalingship. So it isn’t a steam-engine, but the pot for boiling the blubber.
Carolyn says
Seriously??? Are you going to criticize this amazing woman who provides us all these beautiful images……..
Kim says
Take a look at this picture, I think this shows it pretty good:

Hi Carolyn, I don’t think she meant it in a mean spirited way, I think she just wanted to share some info about the image. You are sweet to want to stick up for me, and there certainly have been times when I could have used it on here, but this time I think it’s all good! xo

You’re probably right but how icky.
