Woodland Logbook Journal
Hey everyone. Design Team member Anna Hollingworth of Leximbue Journals created a fabulous Woodland Logbook Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series! Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Anna tell you all about her wonderful project…
Creating this Logbook and the Companion Field Notes Folder has been an absolute pleasure for me. I enjoyed the process so much that I did not want it to stop. I chose a stunning pine green cover image from the Autumn Song bundle which looks just like the original printed book cover. The gold fern in the center is bright and clear.
I have added some gold accents, to define the journal and add more light to the central image.
For endpapers I chose the Spring Meadows Endpapers. They are light green with a romantic feel about them, framed by lace that is so realistic one wants to run their fingers through to feel
its texture.
The pale pink and willow green butterflies caught my eye at once, while I was searching for antique book images.
I was also attracted by the mushroom plate because of all the amazing details that are printed so clearly.
I printed the Ornithologist Field Notes Papers on sticker paper and cut out a few and slipped them inside a transparent pocket for future use in the journal.
They are stored inside a folder that I made with one of the printouts of the delicate endpapers. The closure was made from a clock face and butchers twine wrapped around it.
To complete this journal I used an ex libris with a woodland theme that perfectly matched the concept.
I made the Field Notes Folder like a travelers notebook journal, the paper on the cover, which is also a printable, looks like authentic marbled paper, aged and rustic.
I created holes on the spine and added elastic so that I could slip a folder through it. For this inside, I created a booklet by using a small journal cover and backing it with thicker paper of 300 gsm.
The booklet has a few pages sewn on and I filled them with collages and cut autumn leaves which look like they have been collected and pressed for reference, by the researcher.
There is a cut out branch with ferns that is hanging onto a tiny brad. I tried to add an extra dimension by doing this.
This folder is the perfect companion for the researcher who would be using it for their collection of findings from the woods.
The bundles that I have used for this logbook are:

Legend of the Sleepy Hollow
Realm of the Blue Fairy
Fall Ephemera
