Well, with only a week left until Christmas… are you guys ready?!! I thought I would squeeze in this Homemade Gift Wrap Idea. I think it makes a gift extra special when you wrap it with Handmade wrapping paper that you made yourself! This is a very inexpensive idea, although it does take a little time, so you probably wouldn’t want to do this for all of your gifts, especially if you have a lot of people on your list! But it is a really fun project to make!
- Plain Kraft Wrapping Paper from The Dollar Store
- Doily Stencil ( I used Martha Stewart Adhesive Silkscreens, you can find them at Michaels Crafts)
- Foam Pouncer
- White Acrylic Paint
Step 1: Lay out your paper on a flat surface and place your stencils where you want them to go. I didn’t measure them out, I just placed them randomly in a pleasing pattern.
Step 2: Using the foam pouncer, apply the paint over the stencil. Once done peel up the stencil immediately and wash it out, and dry it, so that you can reuse it on another section. Repeat until your paper is covered with the design. (Please note, you don’t need a fancy paint for this, any cheap acrylic craft paint will work!)
Step 3: Allow to dry throughly
That’s pretty much it! I made two rolls of Gift Wrap, one with a White Doily pattern and a second roll with gold Peacock Feathers on it. I love that you can customize your Homemade wrap to match your Holiday theme! You can make these well in advance and have them rolled up and ready to use. I actually made these last August!
All that’s left to do is to wrap your gifts and place them under the tree! Of course you could use this same technique for Birthday or Anniversary wrapping paper or any other Holiday or occasion! I hope you liked this easy and fun idea!
