Fairy Party Images
Here we have 2 charming Fairy Party Images! What could be more fun then attending such an occasion as an enchanted party for Fairies?! And it appears as if it’s not just for these wee folk, but I can see a few insects have arrived as well, although they seem to be there mainly as the hired help! Both of these beautiful Vintage Illustrations were scanned from old Children’s books.
Evening Fairy Party Illustration
The first image shows the Fairies having a party at night. It’s quite a striking picture with the inky black night sky in the background, it really makes the colors pop on the page. The guests at the party are of all ages, you can even see a little winged baby fairy near the top of the picture. They are all dressed in their finest outfits. Some of them are arriving on the backs of insects. I see both a Beetle and a Moth that are being used as transportation. Such a whimsical scene! I love the little Acorn cap on the boy in the right hand corner there, he’s carrying a small Bee on his hand. Perhaps it’s his pet? This one was scanned from a Circa 1920 U.S. Children’s book in my collection. If you have been following my blog for many years, then you may recognize this one. I have scanned a much higher resolution version of this image and cleaned it up more than the original one, so make sure you grab this version for your projects.
Day Fairy Party Illustration
For this next illustration we see a day time Fairy Affair! These lovely Fairies look like they are having so much fun! They are all wearing beautiful flowing gowns and are raising purple Flower shaped glasses, with a matching Purple Flower Punch Bowl and a Large Green leaf Tray. Perhaps there is some type of Nectar in the bowl. The drinks are being served by a funny sort of Beetle guy! The style of this picture looks very Art Nouveau to me. Everyone appears to be toasting a plane flying over head. Perhaps a friend is going on a trip? {This might make a fun Congrats or Bon Voyage card.} Such a fun scene and I love the colors in this one! Such fanciful outfits the guests are wearing too … long flowing dresses embellished with lots of flowers, and I see lots of fancy jewelry and accessories too. You might also like another beautiful illustration from the same artist, you can find that one HERE. This one was also scanned from a vintage children’s book. I do not own the book itself, I only just purchased a few of the prints from inside of the book. I believe these date to the early 1900s. I hope you can find a fun way to use these Fairy Party Images. Perhaps they would make wonderful Handmade invitations or decorations to be used for a Children’s Party. Or lovely to use in a themed Junk Journal or Mixed Media Art Project or Collage. You might like more Fairy Images HERE.

These are so whimsical and sweet. I think the little fellow in the first illustration may be holding a lightening bug and they are using it to light their way in the darkness. Maybe its a wedding celebration for the young couple in the back since they are ringing bell flowers and bringing gifts.
I am wondering if the second one would have been some sort of celebration for the end of WW1. The plane would have been similar to ones used at that time.
I love these illustrations with the amazing details.
Thank you so much for sharing them! 🙂

Hi Diane,
As far as we know, the images are in the Public Domain, we do our due diligence and we are very careful about what we use, however we can not give you a 100% guarantee. We have never had a problem with copyright and these images have been manufactured all over the world, appeared in nearly every home decor magazine out there, and are even used by a major motion picture studio.
But you will still want to weigh the risks and decide if you are comfortable with using them or not. There is always a small risk when using these things, as the laws are different in every country. You can read more about Copyright info in the US. here http://copyright.cornell.edu/resources/publicdomain.cfm and outside of the U.S. here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries%27_copyright_lengths
I hope that helps!

The book was published in 1920 in the U.S., it was one from a series of books called “My Bookhouse”. I hope that helps!

I am planning to use this for a party invitation. Could you please tell me more about the source e.g. name of the book, illustrator, publisher and year of publication?
