French Angel Wing DIY Tutorial
Today I’m sharing another fabulous DIY project from one of our Readers! This Gorgeous French Angel Wing was created by Rose Nicolas!
Many of you have said that you have been enjoying the projects that Rose has been submitting. I’m so thrilled that she submitted this beautiful Wing and I think it is the perfect project for the Holiday Season, although you could display this piece all year long!
Supplies:
1) 3/4″ Oak Wood
2) Tin Sheet Metal
3) Jig Saw
4) Tin Snips
5) Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint {Grain Sack}
6) Black Paint
7) Sandpaper
9) Citra Solve
10) Epoxy Glue?
Steps:
Step 1) Draw out a Wing shape on the 3/4″ Oak Wood and cut out with Jigsaw.
Step 2) Using Tin Snips, cut tin out in feather like rows to fit wood.
Step 3) Please note… Rose did not say how she adhered the tin to the wood, but I would guess that she used a strong epoxy type glue. I have done similar projects with these materials and that is what worked for me.
Step 4) Paint tin with the black paint and allow to dry.
Step 5) Paint over the black paint with the MMS Grain Sack Milk Paint and allow to dry.
Step 6) Distress with Sand Paper.
Step 7) Apply French Script using the Citra Solve Transfer Method.
Thanks so much for submitting such another fabulous project Rose!!

Thank you for the lovely idea…I built my wings based on this same idea and it turned out great.
I added Psalm 91 as the verse which is the Prayer of Protection.

Oh that sounds amazing Sanjay!!

Can I get the link to order this angel wing
graphicsfairy says
Hi Jan,
This beautiful project was done by Rose, one of our very talented readers but I don’t think it is for sale. She provides a detailed tutorial so that others can make one of their own 🙂

I may have overlooked it, if so I apologize, but did it give the dimensions somewhere? Height and width or could you guestimate if for me? And thanks, to you and Ms. Rose for sharing. I haven’t been inspired to craft in quite awhile but when I saw this, I got so excited. It’s beautiful!
graphicsfairy says
It does not mention it in her post but it appears to be about 24-36 inches high? I agree with you it is stunning! Good luck with it 🙂
Melanie Fraim says
So, I can’t tell from the picture, but what part is wood and what part is metal?
Karen Watson says
Hi Melanie, I believe what you see is metal and the wood is on the back of the metal to stabilize it.
Staci says
These are not handmade but massed produced. I sell them at my shop. The only part this person did was a custom paint finish not the construction.
Karen Watson says
Are you sure Staci? Maybe she made something similar that was inspired by those? She makes a lot of things, we have featured quite a few of her posts.
Staci says
Yes, they are exactly the same. The transfer of wording she did do herself as that does not come on them but they are definately purchased. I can email you a link if you would like.
Karen Watson says
Hi Staci, Yes, if you could email it to me, that would be great. Thanks!
Lana A Malone says
You would email me the link to purchase angel wings? ~ Thank you
Debbie Tracey says
Hi! Could you email me that link for the angel wings. I’ve been looking everywhere for some.
Thank you,
Debbie

Hi Debbie, we do not sell the Angel wings, they are the beautiful creation of one of our very talented readers, Rose. We often feature some of the projects our readers have created using my graphics from the blog and this is one of them. I hope you find some as beautiful as this 🙂
