Vintage Gardener Images
Above is a pretty Gardener Woman with a Rake Image. The beautifully dressed woman seems to be working in the field of a farm. She has paused for a moment to rest or daydream while leaning on her upturned rake. We see a far away look on her face. I think it would be more romantic if she were raking in a garden or yard. Her lovely purple dress seems out of place. She wears a tiny straw hat with a red ribbon. There is a hay wagon and oxen in the background. Such a poignant scene.
Ok, well I’m squeezing this one in to this collection even through she doesn’t appear to be gardening. But she is taking a stroll in a garden and perhaps she is reading a book about gardening so that she can make a plan?! It’s a lovely image all the same and the colors are so pretty.
Here we have a pretty Victorian Garden Lady Image! This little lady is wearing a very fancy pink and green dress and matching straw hat with a large pink bow! She also wears dainty pink heeled shoes and white stockings. She is holding a Garden hoe. It looks like she’s ready to do a bit of gardening in all of her finery! Such a sweet little antique piece!
This is a Lovely Vintage Garden Friends Image!! Featured here is a charming antique gardener image of two women holding hands and walking in a garden or field. One of the women is holding a rake and the other is holding up her apron, as if she has just harvested some goodies from the garden to take home to eat. This illustration was done by one of my favorite artists, Kate Greenaway.
This is a wonderful Vintage Garden Fairy Image! Shown above is a pretty flying fairy. The fairy is wearing a green dress and pink wings. She has a green metal watering can. She’s watering a pink flower that has a little child fairy in the center of it! Such a delightful illustration! This one is Circa 1914 and was illustrated by M.T. “Penny” Ross.
Retro Gardener Silhouette Graphics
Here we have a Retro Garden Man Silhouette! This is a vintage illustration showing a man with a shovel who is working in his garden. I think this would make a nice Handmade card for your favorite gardener! This one was scanned from a rare Circa 1941/1942 Printer’s catalog. See the matching image below.
Antique Gardener Pictures
Featured above is a lovely Vintage Garden Arbor Lady Image! Scanned from an antique Poetry book that dates to around Circa 1880′s, the image is of a Victorian lady standing under a Garden arbor. She appears to be picking some flowers to collect in her basket. Such a charming scene. Makes me wish that Spring would hurry up and get here!! A wonderful Garden scene.
Here we have an Engraving from an 1870’s Gardening book. Shown is a Gardner tending to his potted flowers. I think they look like Hollyhocks, one of my favorite flowers! He is surrounded with pots under his potting bench. This would make a nice tag or card to go along with a gift for your favorite Gardening friend!
This odd looking image is from an 1880’s Industrial History book. Shown is a Farmer standing next to a very large Millet plant. He has some unusual looking facial hair too; a large mustache with a beard type thing that is cut out around the chin. If you could think of a funny caption, you could use him in a silly card!
Child Gardener Images
Here is a cute Retro Kid Image from a 1940’s Vintage Printer’s Book! Shown above are a boy and girl who are gardening. The little boy is planting two perfect tulips in a clay pot. The little girl is holding a Watering can ready to water the flowers. Darling image!

How are you doing? You know, I’m a bit confused here. One question – these are gardeners, into the dirt, the fields, and – how do they do this with looking as beautiful as ever? Heels, lovely dresses, bonnets, hats, and ruffles – my goodness. LOL!
My gardening clothes are old T-shirts and jeans with holes and tears in them……looking like a junk lady outside. If these are their gardening attire, then I am impressed – because no matter what they are doing, it’s always with class!
Thanks so much for sharing these with us!
LOL, I agree Irene, awfully fancy for gardening attire 🙂 But still so fun to look at!
