DIY Envelope Glue
Hi everyone, how are you. It’s Andrea from The Cottage Market and I am back with you today to make DIY Envelope Glue and it’s great for Stickers too! This is a super simple but pretty awesome project. If you’ve been wondering How do you make Envelope Adhesive … then this post is for you! So many of you love the wonderful world of Scrapbooking and this glue will enable you to make stickers…envelopes and more. It’s quick…easy and in today’s day and age that is exactly what you want! It also uses very few ingredients in fact you may already have everything you need in your kitchen right now. Next time we meet maybe we will do a tutorial on how to make your own stickers and Handmade envelopes with some gorgeous Graphics Fairy Images. Well let’s get straight to the making of this glue!
Supplies:
White Distilled Vinegar
1 pack of Originate Gelatin Unflavored
Measuring Cup
Jar
Bowl
Spoon
Teapot to boil water
How to Make DIY Envelope Glue
Step one: Here is the easy peasy recipe. First you empty one packet of the Gelatin into your bowl…
Step Two: Next pour 8 ounces of boiling White Distilled Vinegar into the mixture (make sure you boil it first, haha) …
Step three: Stir the liquid until it is completely dissolved.
Step Four: Pour the mixture into a jar that you can seal tightly and allow to cool. (This glue even when cooled in on the thinner side but it still totally works.
Then it is ready to use. You can apply a thin layer onto the flap of a homemade envelope… or to the back of some homemade stickers and more! You can use a paint brush to apply it. Once you apply the homemade envelope glue…allow it to dry completely and then store it in a plastic container…baggie or any other sealed storage. Take it out when you are ready to use…lick with your tongue, or lightly dampen with a sponge and stick it on!
Store your glue just like you would any other glue, no need to keep it in the fridge. So fun and easy right? And this would be great to do with the kids once the mixture has cooled down. I’m sure they would enjoying making some paper creations with this glue. I hope you enjoyed learning How to Make DIY Envelope Glue! You can grab the Printable Postage Collage Sheet HERE. Thank´s for the recipe and the printables! But wondering how much gelatine it´s in one package? Here in Sweden they only sells it in bottles where you have to measure the amount yourself. Never seen distilled vinegar in shop – can I use regular white vinegar?
Karen Watson says
Hi Marie, According to this article https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091226155805AAuc50g it would be 1 1/2 teaspoons of Gelatin. You should be able to google a conversion for European measurements, if you don’t have any teaspoons. I’m not sure about the distilled vs regular. If you give it a try with the regular white vinegar, will you let us know how it turns out? Thanks!

The printables are really wonderful, thank you. Thrilled about your glue recipe except, do you know if the vinegar can be omitted & replaced with water? I have a severe allergy to it. Thanks
Karen Watson says
Hi Caro, I’m not sure. Can you use a sponge instead of licking it?
