How to Draw a Squirrel Step by Step
Kids or grown ups alike can follow these simple steps with this adorable Squirrel Drawing guide! I would recommend creating this with a pencil, as you can erase if you have any mistakes. But you can always draw over him with an ink Pen or marker when you are done, to define him some more. Have fun creating Squirrels!
Squirrel Drawing Step 1
Step 1: Let’s draw the Squirrel’s Head. Sketch out a small spiral for his head.
Step 2: Next let’s create his body. Draw a larger spiral for his body, continuing down from his head. Make sure you leave an indentation for the back of his neck.
Step 3: Let’s draw the line for the Squirrels tail next. Make a curved line off to the left and then continue the line under his body as the basis for his foot.
Step 4: Next draw in his arm as shown above. Add a small curved line for his nose and a circle for his eye. Color in his eye, but leave a small spot of white space for the highlight of his eye. And add two ears on top of his head.
Step5: Add a line for the front of his body that extends down and runs parallel to the top of his foot. Place a small oval in his hand for the nut. And add the curvy lines to the Squirrel’s tail. At this point you have a cute and simple Cartoon Squirrel drawing and you could stop here. Or you can continue on with the next step if you want to add more detail and make it a bit more challenging.
Step6: Add the extra details as shown above. Now we are adding whiskers on his little face, more details to the tail to make it bushier. The nut has been colored in and some toes have been added to his foot. Some shading has also been added to his ear, his chest and lower body and his nose has been filled in too.
Step 7: The only thing left to do now is to color in your darling Squirrel! Go grab your markers, Crayola crayons, oil pastels or color pencils, or whatever you have on hand, and finish your artwork masterpiece! I colored this one in with tan and brown , but you can let your creativity go wild and use whatever colors you like! Squirrels are often Gray, Reddish Brown, Tan or Black in color, and occasionally white. But you can make yours pink, purple or blue if you want. You get to decide!
