12 Skull Clipart Images
This is a grouping of different Skull Clipart Images. These are Vintage Black and White Clip Art Images many of them scanned from Antique books. Most are diagrams from old Anatomy books. There is also one image of Leg bones as well and a classic Skull and Crossbones Image. These would be great for using in your Spooky Halloween Crafts or Graphic Design Projects!
Vintage Anatomy Skull Clip Art and Bone Images
Here is the latest addition to this spooky collection! Shown above is a classic looking front facing black and white skull clipart image. He has quite a lot of teeth! This one came from a Circa 1840’s book.
I’ve added in a second version of the Skull that you see below. This one is a black and white version to give you more options for your projects.
You may have seen these before, I originally posted these several years ago. Recently Pottery Barn came out with some fabulous canvas wall hangings, for Halloween, using these exact same Bone and Human Skull images! So, I’ve re-scanned the images at a much higher resolution for you, and you can download the Printable PDF’s for both, in case you would like to make your own. And if you would like a tutorial, stop by reader Mandi Tremayne’s blog to get all the info on how to create amazing PB inspired Halloween wall hangings for your home, at a fraction of the cost.
Laughing Skull Image
This Skull Clipart picture was scanned from an Old Dictionary. Here we see a side view of a Skull with his mouth hanging open as if he is laughing. This one is also a black and white diagram.
Skull and Crossbones Image
This is an early Halloween Image of a Skull and Crossbones. This one was scanned from a Circa 1828 Antique Printer’s Book. Rather a creepy looking image. I would imagine it was used for Poison Labels and that sort of thing. It reminds me of some of the headstones that my husband and I saw in a very old Graveyard in Boston, on our trip there over the Summer. I was surprised by how many of the stones had those spooky looking Skulls on them, and couldn’t imagine how the surviving loved ones could possibly feel comforted by looking at that, during visits. I guess things were different back then!
Here is the latest addition to this collection. This is little primitive looking image is from an 1880’s Printer’s book. This one was probably meant to be used for poison labels. It’s pretty creepy!
Skull Side View Images
This Vintage Skull Image Diagram came from an old Anatomy book of mine. This one has his mouth slightly open (nice opportunity for a speech bubble perhaps?) and it has the parts of the Skull labeled too, which is kind of cool.
This is a basic Vintage Skull Clip Art image. Another side view only this one is facing towards the right. This graphic came out of an early Natural History book. He’s just a simple image, not numbers or letters on this one. This guy was used to create the Cool Vintage Skull Banner Project found HERE. And the fun DIY Skeleton Match Books HERE.
This is a Vintage Anatomy Skull Image! This one was scanned from an Antique Anatomy book, he’s labeled “The Head”. It’s an old Engraving and has incredible detail. I left all the original numbers in place, I think it adds an authentic touch to it! So perfect for your spooky Halloween Craft or DIY Projects! You might also like the Skull and Fabric Art Project Tutorial that I posted a couple of years ago, you can find that one HERE.
Color Skull Clipart
This is an interesting skull clipart image. This one has mostly cream and black tones but there is a sunset pink background on this one.
Here’s a spooky looking profile view! It’s an interesting illustration with a gold oval frame surrounding it.
Artistic Skull Art
This next one is pretty cool looking if you like this sort of thing. This one is embellished with flowers on either side of it. I could see this image used as some tattoo art.
Bones Images
I’m also including these Hand Bones to this collection. This spooky looking skeleton hand comes from an old Anatomy book!
I hope you enjoyed this collection of Skull clipart images. You might also want to check out our Skeleton Images HERE or our Best Vintage Halloween Images Post HERE.

Looks great, but I couldn’t open a couple of the skulls, notably the skull and crossbones.

Hi Jonni,
Thanks for bringing my attention to this one! I guessed I really dropped the ball on it last year, and had no memory of it not working! Anyway, I’ve got it fixed now, so you can go ahead and download it!

Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for sharing these. I am sorry to be any trouble but is there anyway you can repost the leg bones as a PDF file? I have tried to download it from Google Document but it is giving me an error code.
Thank you so much!
Jonni 🙂

Hi Brianna,
If you click on the image itself, it is a low res image. You need to click on the link underneath it, for the High resolution PDF file. I hope that helps!

Wondering how the winkflash turned out. Tried to order one, but resolution was too low. Thanks for the great images.
