Hey there! Before we get to today’s reader feature, I want to take a minute to introduce myself! My name is Jessica, and my blog is Mom 4 Real. I love to share DIY, crafts, home decor, and recipes that are easy for women to replicate on a budget. I am so excited to be here! I’ll be handling all of the reader features from now on, and cannot wait to see what you have been creating! Enough about me already…let’s talk about you!
Today’s reader feature is DIY Painted Bottles from Dixie at Real Planz! She took a glass jar and painted it with black acrylic paint, rubbed candle wax over the entire jar, then painted it with white acrylic paint. She then distressed it with sand paper to reveal the black paint. She applied a Vintage Seashell Image using Lazertran Inkjet Waterslide Paper. The last thing she did was wrap black waxed cotton twine around the top of the jar and spray it with clear varnish.
I love the way it turned out! You can truly change the look of any discarded bottle this way…talk about recycling! You can find the full tutorial and the other amazing bottles she painted on Dixie’s site, Real Planz, HERE!

How pretty! Dixie used a glass painting technique I haven’t seen before, and the results are amazing! Thank you, Jessica, for sharing this project with us.
Heading over to your and Dixie’s blogs… : )
xoxo

Could you paint a jar that has a candle in it? Since you varnish the jar first, would the varnish cause a problem when the candle is lit? This I doubt, but would like to know for sure before I do this!
