Today’s reader featured project is a set of beautiful Painted Terra Cotta Pots from Naomi Fink! Naomi took some plain terra cotta pots and sealed them with terra cotta pot sealer, then painted them with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White. She then added The Graphics Fairy’s Old Advertising Image and Frame with the names of the herbs instead of the advertisement, using the Mod Podge method. Once dried, she waxed them with Annie Sloan Wax in clear and dark. They are so pretty!
FYI: One reader wrote in to say that apparently painted pots can leak toxins into the plants that are grown in them. So it’s best to only grow decorative plants in painted pots, and not edible ones.
I can’t believe the transformation! Thank you so much for sharing, Naomi!

I love this and would love to do this for my daughter-in-law! Can I ask what fond was used for the herb names? Thanks much!

Hi Pam,
What a wonderful gift that would be! This was actually a feature by one of our many talented readers so I am not sure of the exact font that she used. It would be lovely with any font but this looks like it is a script font. Use whatever font calls to you and it will be perfect 🙂
Sue says
how do you transfer the graphics onto the pot?
graphicsfairy says
Hi Sue,
The post says she used the Mod Podgemethod to transfer the images to the pots. Here is a link to that transfer method, http://matsutakeblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/how-to-transfer-inkjet-images-to-wood.html
Good luck 🙂
